Hi Leigh, please research the real estate market in your area. If updated kitchens are in high demand and can significantly increase the value of your home, it might be worth considering a remodel. Real estate agents are experts in local market trends. Consult with a local real estate agent to get their opinion on whether a kitchen remodel would be beneficial in your situation.

Don't do it. You rarely get a 100% return on your investment. If you spend $50,000, you might only add $30,000 to the home's value. Instead, just refresh it: paint the cabinets and update the hardware. It gives buyers the fresh look they want without draining your wallet.

In some markets it can make sense. Talk with a local agent that can advise properly. In most cases its not going to allow you to get more money that will pay for the remodel. For instance, if you put $100,000 into the kitchen, often you will not get $100,000 more for the home. You may get $50,000 more for it, so you lost $50,000 by doing so. If the kitchen is in disrepair then often it will be worth repairing or upgrading anything that is in disrepair.

This is not a yes or no question. The condition of your current kitchen and listing price point play a factor in the answer. Sometimes new kitchen countertops, a backsplash and fresh paint can be just enough to spruce it up for sale. It also depends on how much the remodel will cost. You may want to discuss with a local real estate professional to get an idea if the remodel cost, all the construction dirt and the extended inconvenience will increase your sale price enough to be worth the effort...

Hi Leigh! The exact answer to your question is....maybe. Sometimes kitchen remodels add value to the property and most of the time they make it more marketable. That said, it is important to know that it is also one of the most expensive rooms to remodel. You may not get back what you put in. A local agent can help you determine the rang of pricing you might expect to get in your area. This would be good information to have before you start that project. Good luck!
